About

Wild Wood Badgers is the solo music project of Wild Wood Badger assisted by his real and imaginary friends. The music is an unassuming blend of folk and old-time country. One smarty-pants dubbed it "Subterranean Homesick Country Blues."

There’s a story that Syd Barrett and Townes Van Zandt once shared a hot air balloon ride over the Sonoran Desert. We can safely say it never happened, but Wild Wood Badger has convinced himself that it did. In fact, he insists he was in the basket with them that afternoon, gleefully soaking up their giddy banter and moments of dumbstruck wonder. The memory inspires his music to this day.

Wild Wood Badgers’ first release, the EP titled Welcome to Badgerville, finds Badger in a philosophical mood, pondering romantic and other existential misadventures while reflexively strumming a guitar beside a campfire.

When asked about his philosophy toward music, Wild Wood Badger demurs. "It depends on how one defines music. And, for that matter, how one defines philosophy."

Some have noted a lack of awards, accolades, and other resume-burnishing credentials in his public profile. Responds Badger, "actually, my achievements stack up pretty well in a fair number of alternate universes. In fact, that's where I spend the majority of my time."

Wild Wood Badger is most at home underground, so fans might not be seeing him anytime soon. One longtime friend explained, "Badger hates Society, and invitations, and dinner, and all that sort of thing."
